THE ROOTS OF REBETIKO

The music ensemble EN CHORDAIS leads us to Anatolia and Constantinople, to the time at the beginning of the twentieth century, the years around the Anatolian disaster. The refugees bring the Smyrneika to Greece, a music played on lyre or violin, oud, kanun - but without bouzouki. The dances are the Zeimpekiko, the Hasapiko, the Tsifteteli and Karsimalas.
